Rodney Lawrence Booker passed away on March 31, 2013 at the W. G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center of Salisbury. Mr. Booker was born on April 15, 1921 in Roanoke, VA, son of the late Lester Dee and Mae Beacon Booker.
Mr. Booker is a Veteran United States Air Force, having served during WWII, he was a POW, and a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Booker graduated PSI Betta Kappa from UNC Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He received a Graduate Degree from MIT in Boston.
Mr. Booker worked as the Sale Manager at Bassick Sack in Winston-Salem and later became an Independent Sales Rep. He was a faithful member of the Holy Family Catholic Church where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was State Deputy from 1969 – 1971.
Mr. Booker is survived by his wife, Marjorie Heitman Booker; sisters, Joyce Griffin and Adrienne Umberger; children, Christopher Booker, Sharon Booker and Meagan Batten; grandchildren, Andrew, Grace, Francis and Shannon.
There will be a Graveside Service on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd. Salisbury NC 28144.
