Ronald “Ronnie” Eugene Mabe, or “Paw” as he was lovingly called, 67, of Lexington, North Carolina passed away Wednesday, September 12th , 2018 at his home after an extended illness. He was a cancer survivor and longtime battler of congestive heart failure.
Mr. Mabe was born August 10th, 1951 in Greensboro, NC to Capus Lee Mabe and Helen Mabe Beavers. He was a former heating and air mechanic and an avid fisherman, hunter, and race fan. He lived in Lexington, NC with life partner, Edna Decker until her passing in March 2008 and continued living in their home, feet from children and grandchildren, until his passing. He enjoyed Sunday races, bluegrass, cooking for his family, and his annual beach and fishing trips.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Capus Lee Mabe (Evelyn) and Helen Mabe Beavers
(Harold); sister Betty Mabe Lookabill (Pete); and life partner Edna Decker.
He is survived by three brothers; Bobby Mabe (Helen) of Greensboro, Sandy Mabe of Lexington, and Gary Mabe of Winston Salem; stepson, Scott Everhart (Melinda Dunning) of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Lori Nichols Everhart of Lexington; grandchildren, Sherina Smith of Arkansas, Courtney Everhart Berrier (Branson), Sierra Everhart, Hailey Everhart, and Ethan Everhart all of Lexington; one great-granddaughter, Molly Berrier; nieces and nephews, Mike Lookabill, David Lookabill, Dee Wylie Setzer, Larry Lookabill, Robert Mabe, Cheryl Mabe, Sean Mabe, and Shannon Philips; and a host of cousins and close friends.
No formal arrangements have been made at this time. The family will receive family and friends at the home of Scott Everhart at a later date for a celebration of life and fish fry per Paw’s request.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association to “help fund innovative research for new treatments, provide programs and services for survivors and their families, and help more of our loved ones lower their risk” for heart related conditions such as heart failure, heart attack, and stroke.

My sincere condolences to family and friends. Ronnie was a wonderful caring kind person with a great sense of humor. He lived with Bobby and I . He always loved children and helped spoiled mine.
He has many lifelong friends, host of cousins. My heart goes out to them also.

Ronnie was so lucky to have family (especially Helen and Bobby Mabe ) to take care of him during the final time on earth. We have to believe he is happier now because he’s with his love ones in Heaven that went on before him. He’s in no pain and can Rest In Peace.
