Samuel McCauley Meredith, age 87, a resident of Salisbury, NC, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 19, 1933 in Boonsboro, Maryland. Sam is survived by Ann (Horine) Meredith, his wife of 60 years; his two children, Kimberly (Dr. Douglas) Jeffery, Pamela; three adored grandchildren: Cory, Samantha and Keillan; brother, Ted (Bill Kitchel) and nephew, Chris.
Sam received his bachelor’s degree and masters of Microbiology from the University of Maryland.
Because of Sam’s love for medicine, he chose a career in the pharmaceutical industry working for Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company for 34 years. Sam also served in the Army as a trained Combat Medic in the 632 nd medical company during the Korean Conflict.
Sam was a long-time resident of Maryland, except for a brief time in Salisbury in the late 60’s. Sam and Ann were happy to return to Salisbury for their retirement in 2000. Sam had such a compassionate spirit and love for helping others. He spent much of his time in retirement volunteering in his local community for the Salisbury Symphony, Meals on Wheels, Civitan, First Presbyterian Church and The American Legion. Sam especially enjoyed his time with his family, gardening, hiking his property, woodworking and traveling.
A private service was held for immediate family at the Veteran’s Cemetery with military honors on June 25, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Harold B. Jarrett, American Legion Post 342, 1024 Lincolnton Road, Salisbury, NC 28144.
Carolina Cremation is assisting the Meredith family. Online condolences may be made at www.carolinacremation.com.
