Shaun Nield was liberated from us on Independence Day, July 4, 2025.
Shaun was born to Robert Nield and Elizabeth (Galvin) Janczyc on December 15, 1978 in Waterbury, CT. He was a resident of Thomaston for many years, attending Thomaston schools.
Everyone faces challenges in their lives, but few face them with the kind of determination and resilience that Shaun did. Shaun became a father to his son Austin Johnson, and this life event sparked a ferocious love deep within him that was truly transformative. By the Grace of God, together with his life partner Becky Selitte and a devoted extended family, they raised their children together and faced each and every challenge life threw at them together with an unbreakable bond. Shaun parented his son devotedly, and that will be his lasting legacy.
Left to cherish Shaun’s memory are his mother Liz (Galvin) Janczic and stepfather Walt Janczic of Naugatuck, his father Robert Nield and stepmother Linda Gaye (Seeling) Nield of East Dummerston, VT, his son Austin Johnson of Clover, South Carolina, his brother Dylan and sister-in-law Kristina Nield of Watertown, his brother Theo Nield and wife Amanda Nield of Watertown, his sister Ruth Anne Nield of Watertown, his paternal grandmother Cheryl Stoughton of Bantam, his uncle Jeffrey Nield of Torrington, his uncle Dan Nield and aunt Siobhan (O’Malley) Nield of Alston, PA, his life partner Becky Selitte of Clover, SC, Kayla Kelly of Clover, South Carolina, Austin’s maternal grandmother Anita Johnson of Naugatuck, his step mother Wendy (Reynolds) Nield of Watertown, his aunt Heather Nield of Leeds, MA, his uncle and dear friend Adam Nield of Waterbury CT and his life partner Tamara Pudim, his uncle Todd Stoughton and wife Anna Stoughton of Bethlehem, his uncle Chris Galvin, his uncle William Galvin, as well as many nieces, nephews, and way too many friends to mention. Shaun was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Robert Nield, Sr., his paternal step grandmother Linda (Shaffrick) Nield, his maternal grandfather Joseph Galvin and maternal grandmother Nancy (Smith) Galvin and aunt Barbara (Valenti) Galvin.
At this time there are no plans for a memorial service. As a living memorial to honor Shaun, friends and family are asked to redouble their expressions of love and commitment to their children.
Carolina Cremation is honored to serve the Neild family. Online condolences may be made at www.carolinacremation.com.
