Sonia was born one of nine children to Mr. Richard Leo Bullock and Rev. Dr. Rosalie Pearl Bullock on Aug 8, 1953 in New York City, N.Y. Sonia became the guardian and mother to Tawana Bullock, Rasaun Bullock, Natoya Bullock and Shekinah Bullock.
She grew up in the Bronx and Harlem, New York. She graduated from Fashion Industries High School and later earned a Black belt as a Martial Artist. During this time, known for her love of African Dance she performed with Mr. Roscoe ‘Chic’ Bradley, Director, and her grandmother Mrs. Sally Bullock, Exec Administrator of The Colonial Park Community association in Harlem, NY, where she later sat on the Board of Directors.
Sonia received her undergraduate degree from Manhattan Community College and Touro College. During her matriculation at these schools, Sonia traveled to Ghana & Nigeria Africa at the young age of 20 where she pursued her passion for African culture while embarking on her call to missionary service.
In Africa during the 70’s, Sonia emphatically appreciated her roots. She studied African hair braiding and became one of the top pioneers to introduce ‘braided extensions’ to the American public. This allowed Sonia to be one of the top hair stylist to Essence Beauty Magazine’s notable top models under the employ of Editor-in-Chief Susan L. Taylor.
Sonia was Self employed in her hair business and also worked at the Telephone Co, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Screen Actors Guild and hospitality Services. Her perfection in her craft afforded her the opportunity to work with such famous people as Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, Sylvester, Melba Moore, Valerie Simpson, Bo Derek (for the movie 10), Sister Sledge, and Opera singer Grace Bumbry, just to name a few.
Sonia along with Top Hair Stylist John Atchison of NY, authored her first African hairstyle book called Ancient Africa and this career took her many places . Sonia attended the Seminary of California, Brooklyn campus and The United Christian College where she received her Master’s and Doctorate of Divinity in Religion and Sacred Theology.
Sonia early days were at The Goodwill Baptist Church, Bronx, NY, where she accepted Christ under the late Rev. E. Miles and the late Rev. Rufus Thomas and at Prayer & Faith Temple Praise under Pastor Timothy Howze, where she was ordained a Deaconess and Minister. Sonia also partnered in the gospel with the Times Square Church where as a mission team member, she traveled to Russia spreading the gospel. Beckoned to share her wisdom, under Rev. Mother Adams tutelage, she began to embrace her prophetic calling.
Sonia enriched her prayer life at Calvary Pentecostal Camp, among the prophets through fasting and prayer. She was then led to The Fellow Laborers of Love Intercessory Prayer Ministry and was later elevated to Associate Pastor by Pastor Shirley Maxwell and the late Claude Maxwell. Sonia’s longing for perfection in her call, led her to Zoe Ministries under the leadership of Prophet E. Bernard Jordan. Here, Sonia effectively expressed her service to God in all capacities including the Prophetic and in the office of a Deaconess.
Later Sonia joined ( P.O.M.E.) The Prophetic Order of Mar Elijah based upon I Kings 19: 9 – II Kings 2:17 of Mar Elijah’s mission in raising up 300 prophets.
Sonia humbly expressed God and guarded the sacred things in God’s Temple. Loving family Sonia frequented her siblings church, at the New Life for Better Living Christian Center Ministry, under Pastor Gary Carswell, where she shared her wisdom, knowledge of ministry and prophetic utterance to the first family and the members to which many have already come to pass. Prophetess Sonia served the community in the prison ministry, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, non-profit organizations such as: Cancer, H.I.V., Heart, the Food and Health Programs, Heritage, feeding of the Sick and Homeless population and those who solicited her services she endeavored to render a solution or forwarding advice.
In her last months, being barely able to speak, she spoke into the lives of many and prophesied till she could speak no more.
The only thing she truly feared was, leaving the work undone that was given to her hands by her Beloved Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
For Sonia there are no stones un-turned, and no leaves blowing in the wind … She ran the race and finished the course, to hear her Father say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord” Matthew 25:23
She is preceded in death by her father Richard L. Bullock and sister Roxanne B. Bullock.

I was extremely saddened to hear of Sonia’s passing.. Sonia was a special friend to me..For my house warming- she gave me my first Bible and it’s engraved..She spoke often of her missionary work and her work with the stars.. I thought she was wasting her time at Blue Cross. I loved her, she was like a big sister to me. I miss her dearly and I’m sorry we didn’t keep in touch. I went to the Bahamas with one of her sisters but I can’t remember her name. If possible please speak with the sisters and ask them to contact me. Thank you Stephanie Woods
