Stewart Andrew Simms, 93, died peacefully in his sleep on December 23, 2023, six months after the passing of his wife, Merry Tom Simms. He was born on January 3, 1930 in Baltimore, MD and was the son of the late Clarence and Margaret Simms. He grew up in Maryland on the family farm, but on a 1955 cruise to several European countries he met the love of his life, Merry Tom Lowery. They quickly became inseparable and he proposed while they were in Germany. They married a few months later in Texas, but moved to Maryland where they built a home and a life, raising two daughters.
Stewart was predeceased by not only his parents, but all of his siblings, three brothers; Clarence E, John [Jack] and Leo as well as two sisters; Margaret Newcomb and Dorothy Wuermser. He is survived by his two daughters, Deborah Rapson and husband, Jeff and Dianah Ramsay and husband Scott. He also leaves behind 3 grandsons, TJ Rapson, Gavin and Ian Ramsay and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stewart had a keen sense of humor and was the king of the “dad” jokes. He always tried to look on the bright side of any situation. Stewart held numerous jobs in the course of his working career and he could build, fix, or repair just about anything with just about anything that he could find around him. He even made a bench once out of an old door! He was a MacGyver before there was such a person.
Stewart’s love affair with the earth was often displayed in his garden and flowers, showing them off to anyone who was willing to look and listen. He was a devoted Christian and never missed an opportunity to share his deep faith in his God, Jehovah, with others.

I remember Stuart Simms from Monkton/Hereford Congregation. I was just a little girl then. Grown up now, I continue in my devoted service to our loving and loyal God, Jehovah. My faithful mother, Amy Healey, passed off the earthly scene long ago, and awaits a resurrection to the paradise earth, to join others like Merry and Stuart Simms.
