Teresa Whitman Benz, passed away peacefully at the age of 63 on November 3, 2024 with her loving family by her side after an ongoing battle with cancer. Teresa was born on March 31, 1961 to Larry Whitman and Lynda Howard Whitman in Mooresville, NC. She graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in 1979.
Teresa was the matriarch of her family, who included her husband of 41 years and her two loving children. Teresa loved her family with everything she had, and was the most excited when she finally became a grandma. She loved spending time with her three grandchildren, Aria, Scarlett, and Luke. Next to time with her grandchildren, her favorite pastime was sitting on the beach basking in the sun. She was the most loyal friend, and was always willing to give the shirt off her back to help anyone she cared about. She was gifted with a green thumb and always had the most beautiful flowers in the spring and summer months.
Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Larry Whitman. She leaves behind a husband of 41 years, Larry Benz, her mother, Lynda Blackwelder, two children, Justin Benz and wife Alida, and Heather Benz, and three grandchildren, Aria, Scarlett, and Luke.

I met Teresa 30 yrs ago at Harrisburg elementary when our boys played T ball. We became friends and friendship grew over 30 yrs. We hung out together, travel together. Did everything together. She became my BFF. My heart is broken and I’m lost without her. But I no she no longer in pain. She has her beautiful Wings now as she watches over all of us. I love you Teresa. Til we meet again. 💖

My heart is broken from the loss of my stepdaughter, Teresa. She was the most loving and giving person in my life and the only child I would ever have. She is with her dad now and I know the reunion is joyful. My heart longs for the day I will see them again.
