Thomas Daniel Grobe, 67, of Randleman, peacefully passed away March 3, 2017 at the Liberty Lane VA Hospice house in Salisbury, NC.
Thomas was born to the late Maurice and Helen Mahoney Grobe on August 12, 1949 in North Tonawanda, NY . He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Thomas was active in local support groups and a member of the Randleman Civitan Club. He was an avid swimmer, Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. and in his spare time he enjoyed working on his car collection. Thomas was a proud father, grandfather and beloved uncle and brother. He will be deeply missed.
Thomas is survived by his sons, Daniel Grobe and wife Nicole, of Dallas, TX; and Scott Grobe of Randleman, NC; daughter, Kristy Velez and husband Mariano, of Nazareth, Penn.; brothers, Jerry Grobe of Michigan and John Grobe of New York; sister, Susan Grobe of Texas. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Nathan, Natalie, Millie and Carmen.
A local Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and will be announced through social media.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, www.hazeldenbettyford.org.
Carolina Cremation is assisting the Grobe family.

Tom was a great friend to me when we worked together at Fiberon. He was always there when I needed something done around the house. He was a giver of encouragement and his time whenever I needed a friend. I wish I could have seen him and talked to him one more time. My prayers are with his family.

Sorry to be getting this news. I swam with Tommy in high school. He was a wonderful guy. We had a lot fun – made it all the way to the Eastern US Championships in Lawrenceville, NJ in 1967.
