Thomas Mark Lowery, 64, of Salisbury, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, surrounded by family. He was born on July 18, 1960, in Salisbury to the late Riley Lowery Jr. and Almeda Love Lowery.
Mark was a proud alumnus of North Rowan High School, where he was an outstanding athlete and earned a football scholarship to East Carolina University. He graduated from ECU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology and remained a devoted supporter of the ECU Pirates throughout his life. He worked for many years as an industrial salesman in the rock crushing and aggregates industry.
Mark was raised in First Baptist Church of East Spencer and, in recent years, attended both The Cove Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salisbury. His faith was a steady foundation in his life, and he especially loved the music of Casting Crowns, which brought him comfort and strength.
He was a true family man who deeply valued time with his loved ones. He especially enjoyed family dinners, where laughter, storytelling, and good food were always in abundance.
A lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and ECU football, Mark also enjoyed attending North Rowan High School athletic events and Rowan County American Legion baseball games.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Judy Lackey; his brothers-in-law, Jim Webb and Don Lackey; his uncles, Thomas Love and Paul Love; and his grandparents, William Thomas and Lessie Love, and Riley Lowery Sr. and Nora Lowery.
He is survived by his sister, Jane Webb of Salisbury; his brother, Riley “Buddy” Belt Lowery III (Tara) of Mocksville; nieces, Crystal Catoe and Jancie Lawrence; nephews, Joshua Webb, Patrick Lowery, and Eric Lowery; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and his uncle, Charles Love of Salisbury.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Salisbury. Visitation will take place from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
