Tommy “Gerald” Gathings, 74 of Lexington, NC passed away October 24th, 2019 at the Tucker Hospice House of Cabarrus County after several months of continued care, and spent that time surrounded by family who loved and appreciated him. Gerald was born in Lexington NC November 21st 1945.
Gerald was Retired from Davidson Sash and Doors and was a recreational golf player for most of his adult life. He was an avid football fan and his favorite team was the Los Angeles Rams.
He is preceded by death by his mother, Virginia Mauldin Gathings; his father, Morris Cecil Gathings; and four brothers, Cecil, Roger, Barry and David Gathings.
He is survived by his brother, Jimmy Gathings (companion Wanda) of Lexington; two daughters, Lisa Mullis of Kannapolis and Tracy (Allie Walter) of Kannapolis;
five grandchildren, Hannah Ivey (Justin) of Columbia South Carolina, Sarah Ronan (Jeremy) of Concord North Carolina, Katie Davis (Patrick) of China Grove North Carolina, Daniel Mullis (Gabrielle) of Landis North Carolina, and Clayton Karl Palmer III (Carrie) of China Grove North Carolina; as well as 13 great grandchildren, and loved ones who were close to Gerald throughout his life.
Celebration of Life Service for close family and friends will be held at Clermont Freewill Baptist Church in Kannapolis on Sunday, October 27th at 3pm.
Special thanks are sent to his daughters for caring for him full time the last part of his life, and the care received from the Hospice & Palliative Care House of Cabarrus County.
