William Allen Heglar “Bill” of Mooresville, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Bill was born April 30, 1947, son of the late John Bell and Innes Louella Corriher Heglar.
Bill served in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from UPS after 30 years of service and retired from Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He was an active member of Destiny City Church where he served on the Leadership Team, Benevolence Team and enjoyed greeting everyone as they arrived at the church serving as a Parking Lot Attendant. He was also active in the Veterans PTSD (Pursuing the Saviors Destiny).
Bill is survived by his wife, Lydia Wood Heglar of Salisbury; son, William Allen Heglar Jr and wife Wendi of Faith; daughter Lindsay Heglar Hopkins and husband Oscar of Kannapolis; grandchildren Ragan, Riley, Luke and Kila; and a sister Joyce Risden. Also, to cherish his memories are stepsons Theodore “Teddy” Wood and wife Jena of Salisbury; Jacob “Jake” Wood and wife Annie of Charlotte; Lucas Wood and wife Lauren of Asheville; stepdaughter Lori Wood and husband Rei of Salisbury; and step-grandchildren Aden, Ryan, Gabrielle, Isaiah, Joshua, AJ, Tyler, Amelia, Milo, Levi and Abraham.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his first wife Karan Whiteside Heglar; sisters Barbara Johnson, and Louise Heglar, and brother JB Heglar.
The family will greet friends and relatives at 12:15 pm on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Destiny City Church, 2324 S. Main Street Salisbury, NC 28147. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life service will begin at 1pm conducted by Dr. Don Vess.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Destiny City Church or Tucker Hospice House.

I pray that God holds the family up with His mighty hand. Bill was a man of funny words that pleased my heart everyday I saw him at work. He made my day every time I saw him. He always had a laughable story.
