Bud was educated in the Spencer schools, and graduated from North Rowan High School with the Class of 1975. He has always been an avid sports fan, especially the game of baseball. He played Youth League basketball, football, Church League basketball, and Pony League baseball, but enjoyed playing Spencer Little League baseball the most with cousins Phip, Kelly, and Johnny Sparger. Bud also played on the North Rowan High Cavalier baseball team under legendary coach Bob Hundley. He enjoyed playing golf with family and friends over the years. and never missed a Nascar race.
In 1976-77 Bud began what became a long career with Duke Power Company. where he met many cherished friends and other people along the way, Bud loved regaling people with hilarious stories and funny situations, even just before his death.
After Duke Power, Bud took a job at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove where he lived as Grounds Foreman. He worked there until he retired at age 62.
Since his retirement, Bud has enjoyed catching up on reading novels, crosswords, eating at restaurants and at sister Carol’s home, babysitting and spending happy times with his great-niece and great-nephews who were like grandchildren to him. He is so much loved and missed.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents Jenny and Maurice; brother James Maurice “Bird” Sparger.

TONI RAPER says
Dear Carol,
We were so sorry to hear of Bud’s passing. He was truly a great person. I (Toni) sat behind him in Mrs. McDowell’s 4th grade class and he and I became friends. He was always quiet-spoken, yet funny, around me. He will be truly missed in this world. May God bless you and keep you and your family in this time of loss.
Sincerely,
Toni and Rick Raper

Carol and family,
I sat right in front of Bud at NRHS homeroom our freshman year and numerous other classes throughout high school. He was always fun-loving, kind, humorous and very bright. Although I don’t recall ever running into him after graduation, I have great memories of him.
May YOUR memories of him bring you great peace and comfort. Losing two brothers, well, it’s just hard. There is no way around it. But the greatest can come from the Prince of Peace and His Comforter. Call on Him.
