Zelia Pagie Motley, 86, of Salisbury, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the Laurels in Salisbury, NC. Mrs. Motley was born on December 24, 1928 in Davidson County, to the late Albert Thomas Smith and Emmer Shinn Smith.
Zelia was a member of Lane Street Baptist Church in Kannapolis and retired from Linn Cotton Mill in Landis, where she worked as a Spinner. She loved to cook, sew, work on puzzles, babysitting, and was always reading her Bible.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by six brothers, Sparky Smith, Frank Smith, Andrew Smith, Bobby Smith, Kenneth Smith, and Joe Pittman; and two sisters, Juanita Hill, and Joyce King.
She is survived by two sons, Steve Goodman and wife Lougenia of China Grove, and James Lee “Buck” Goodman and wife Stacy of Sampson, AL; two daughters, Wanda Efird and husband James of Faith, and Patricia Sloop and husband Steve of Salisbury; eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
